I was a the Lecture tonight (as I am a journalism student at the LCC). I personally appreaciated the point she tried to raise about the fact that the readers have to be the main focus of journalists and editors. It’s true that she conveyed an idea of expansion and evolution within many aspects of journalism. I also loved that she pointed out how lots of publications that had spending cuts were the same ones that saw a sharp decrease in sales and circulation. She rightly said that those money need to be reinvested in jouralism to improve and research.
I think, however, that she could have talked about the idea of coverge journalism more extensively.
The experience was not illuminating, but her speech was entertaining and I have total respect for the editor of the tabloid with the highest circulation in the world.
